PUBLIC PROJECT CONTEXT

Project overview

Fengmiao I is a 495 MW offshore wind development off Taiwan’s west coast. Developed through a Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners fund, with Copenhagen Offshore Partners leading development, it reached financial close in March 2025. The planned wind farm comprises 33 Vestas 15 MW turbines, with construction completion targeted for the end of 2027 in the developer’s announcement.

495 MW is the wind farm’s planned installed capacity. Its auction allocation was 500 MW of grid capacity; the founder’s CV describes the 500 MW offshore substation scope.

PERSONAL PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Founder’s contribution

HV commissioning lead / Project lead HVSemco Maritime
01

Engineering & procurement

Led the HV engineering package during detailed design, coordinating four engineers and multi-million-euro equipment procurement packages.

02

Installation & commissioning

Directed installation and commissioning activities for transformers, shunt reactors, earthing / auxiliary transformers and 66 kV / 220 kV GIS. Coordinated HV engineers and OEM specialists at the fabrication yard.

03

Protection & interfaces

Performed Siemens protection relay testing using Omicron equipment and coordinated technical, spatial and electrical interfaces between the engineering team and PTSC.

ENGINEERING PERSPECTIVE

What this experience brings

An offshore substation brings many separately procured packages into one electrical system. Equipment interfaces, protection requirements and test sequencing need to remain aligned as the design moves into installation and commissioning.
